3. Tracks
If your garage door is sticking, shimmying or otherwise moving in an abnormal way, it may be the tracks that guide the door open and closed. Inspect your tracks for any damage or deformities. Additionally, check for dirt, grime or debris that may have built up on the tracks over time, causing the doors to close partway or not move correctly.
4. Springs and Cables
Because of the weight of a garage door, it takes powerful springs and cables to move it up and down. If a torsion spring breaks, your door may not open properly. To see if there is an issue with a spring, look above the door to see if a spring has visible wear or is broken.
